Best Car Auction Site In Australia
With roughly 30-40 auction houses offering cars in a variety of price ranges, formats, and buyer requirements, Australia boasts a competitive and varied auto auction market. Around 6000-9000 weekly stocks are listed among a variety of auctioneers; we help you find your best one. That’s a huge number but not too much compared to retail stock volume, which is around 200,000-300,000 at any given moment or more than that.
We carried out a thorough comparative analysis of Australia’s most well-known auto auction houses to assist purchasers in making wise choices.
Our objective was straightforward: using actual, observable data rather than advertising claims, we assessed each auction platform’s transparency, dependability, and buyer-friendliness. To maintain consistency and fairness, each auctioneer on this page has been examined using the same evaluation framework.
How Each Auctioneer Was Reviewed
Each auction house was reviewed using publicly available listings, inspection reports, fee structures, auction schedules, and customer feedback from multiple platforms. We analysed real vehicle listings rather than promotional examples to better reflect the actual buyer experience.
Here you can find reviews on 21 Australian auto auctioneers. These cover almost all Australian stock lists with vehicle coverage from classic, premium, industrial and agricultural.
Our reviews focus on what a buyer sees before placing a bid, not just what auction houses promise.
Each auctioneer was assessed across the following criteria:
Condition Reports Evaluating how clearly vehicle condition, damage, and wear are explained on the site. If they have a detailed report listed or explained, they get a high score; if not, they won’t.
Images Quality Considering the number of images, coverage of angles, clarity, and whether damage is shown transparently. We considered images not only of vehicles but also of their engines, paperwork and keys too. They scored 4 or above, fulfilling the above criteria.
Vehicle Details & Listings Assessing how thoroughly specifications, VINs, history, and additional notes are provided. Different auctioneers have their own style and what they consider important, but considering what we find important, we have rated them above 3 if they managed to list most of the important ones.
Buyer’s Premium & Fees Buyer’s premium: the charge you pay to auctioneers. It varies for each auctioneer. Some websites have included the clear and exact amount and rate you need to pay, while some didn’t even respond to us upon asking. We also considered if it is reasonable or not. With that in mind, we have given them a perfect rating from minimum to maximum.
Overall Customer Reviews Calculated using weighted ratings from platforms such as Google, Product Review and Trustpilot. Some auctioneers didn’t have reviews on the online platform, so this might be helpful for you to compare auction houses yourself.
Each category was scored individually and combined to produce a final comparative rating. Remember, our rating is completely ours; it is different from the average Google rating or any rating you find across various platforms.

2.56/5
Overall Rating
★★☆☆☆
Condition Report★☆☆☆☆ 1.5
F3 does not provide a formal condition report. The only condition information is derived from the basic technical details and registration status.
Images on Vehicle★★☆☆☆ 2
Image presentation is poor and unreliable.
The site provides inconsistent images (some cars have none, or the links are bugged).

Exceptional Performance
Why This Rating?
Collecting Cars excels in every critical area: exhaustive vehicle history with CarFax reports, professional multi-angle photography, comprehensive condition reports, and exceptional customer service. Their meticulous documentation builds unparalleled trust with buyers.
A condition report provides crucial information about the vehicles listed in auction. Especially for remote or online buyers, a condition report is all they have to judge a vehicle before bidding. A proper condition report also shows accountability towards their customers and reflects their services. Checking whether they have a solid condition report helps auctioneers decide which auction houses to choose too.
Why do details of the vehicle matter while buying cars at auction? The detail on the vehicle listed in the auction is literally everything a buyer should know. It includes legal information, modifications, and physical body condition. These factors help you understand the history of a certain vehicle and determine the price before bidding.
Images are all you have to look at to see the car you want to bid on. Of course it is very important that auctioneers have posted enough images to convince a buyer that the car is in good condition. If not, they must include damages and vulnerable parts too. Most of the auctioneers also include pictures of their paperwork and engine, earning the trust of customers.
